Miscellaneous records, consisting mainly of correspondence, performance planning, and programs from various plays and musicals performed by theatre companies within the School of Fine Arts, including the Professional Theatre Training Program and The University Players. Correspondence is largely between the chairs of the departments and faculty members regarding performance planning, budgeting, curricula and departmental activities. Faculty meeting minutes document curriculum changes, budgeting, and performance planning. Files include information on the foundation of The Theatre Company of UWM, items regarding the Milwaukee Repertory Theatre and photographs of several plays and musicals. Also included are several production summaries, which list costs of performances.

Administrative history note: Activity in the theatre arts at UWM dates to 1911, when plays and musicals were given by the Dramatic Club and the senior class of the State Normal School. Prior to 1964, theatre arts classes were taken through the department of speech. The department of Theatre Arts officially started in the spring semester of 1964, two years after the formation of the School of Fine Arts. The WPA + 35 Exhibition, January 4-30, 1970, presented by the University of Wisconsin, Milwaukee was a tribute to the crafts and quality of design which came of the Milwaukee Handicraft Project.
